The
Wireless Alliance Corporate Background
Saving the environment from unnecessary pollution was the initial
goal of the business, and we accomplish our part of that everyday.
A single cellular phone can pollute up to 66,000 liters of water,
and a nickel-cadmium battery can pollute 660,000 liters if disposed
of improperly. Our solution is to change this by collecting as many
cell phones, batteries, and chargers as possible. Due to public awareness
and our promotions, we now collect tons of cellular equipment per
month and every bit of that equipment is kept out of the landfill.
In addition to keeping our environment clean, recycled phones can
be sold with the proceeds benefiting charities and other non-profit
organizations. The Wireless Alliance now works with all charities
providing additional fundraising opportunities by collecting and
recycling phones.
Currently we maintain accounts with the nation’s largest carriers
and stores including: Verizon, Cingular, Triton PCS, Midwest Wireless,
Best Buy and others. Every month TWA will process up to 60,000 handsets
and their collateral materials. Every aspect of the cellular equipment
is dealt with in a zero waste, environmentally conscious manner.
