FAQs:
Q: How do wireless phones pollute the environment?
A: Wireless phone components contain lead, arsenic, mercury, and other hazardous
toxins that leach into our environment through landfill decomposition.
Q: What can be done with old wireless phones?
A: Old wireless phones can be recycled, repurposed, and reused! Simply sign up
for your collection kit to begin the process of fundraising through the collection
of old wireless phones. Your collection kit will contain all the information
you need to get going including startup materials and a pricelist valuing used
cellular equipment. we can even customize collection materials specifically for
you and your organization.
Q: How does my donation help the community?
A: A donation payment is made to a predetermined charity for every wireless phone
collected through TWA. With over 200 million used wireless phones removed from
activation every two years there are many valuable phones yet to be reclaimed.
A donation from 15 cents to upwards of $65.00 can be made with just one old unused
phone.
Q: In the end, what happens to my phone?
A: TWA has a zero waste policy. This means that none of the equipment we collect
ends up in a landfill. A large majority of the phones will be resold into the
United States and developing nations. The phones that are not reused are recycled
in accordance with EPA and industry regulation standards. Translation:
- None of the cellular equipment we receive will be disposed of
in a landfill.
- None of our cellular equipment will be processed in foreign
countries - this pertains particularly to the smelting and refining
of unused cellular equipment.
- All Batteries and chargers will be processed according to the
Federal EPA guidelines for battery disposal.
